COVID-19 Updates

As a science-based, student organization, the health and safety of our members is our top priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have significantly changed our organization’s programming for the near future, with the intention of protecting our members and the greater UT and Austin communities.

To prevent transmission of the COVID-19 virus between members, Masks are REQUIRED at all indoor meetings and activites. Outdoor activities will be prioritized, and all club events are completely optional. As the situation with COVID in Austin progresses, club precautions may become more or less strict, depending on whether things improve or worsen. Furthermore, we are a science-based organization, and as such, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that all of our members get vaccinated to ensure our collective safety.

We recognize that these are challenging, uncertain times for students. We are still working hard to providing engaging, meaningful events for our members despite these limitations, but as mentioned, these events are not more important than any of our members’ safety. If you have any concerns or questions about the Texas Marine Science Club and this ongoing pandemic, please feel free to email us at texasmarinescienceclub@gmail.com.

We strongly recommend that our members get vaccinated. You can sign up for vaccines through the UT Health site, which is accessible here. You can also sign up for vaccines through the city of Austin website, which is accessible here.

We also recommend that our members also take advantage of the UT Proactive Community Testing that is available for free to any UT student. You can sign up for a proactive test here.
