Marine Science Major & Certificate

If you are interested in study marine science and would like to take some courses in Port Aransas, you should consider adding either the B.S. Biology: Marine and Freshwater Sciences degree plan or the Marine Science Certificate to your degree plan. Many of our club members have either this degree or certificate and would be happy to give you advice on both programs. Information regarding both programs can be found below.

B.S. Biology Option 3: Marine and Freshwater Sciences

If you have the room in your degree plan and would like to take as many marine science and biology courses as possible, you should consider switching your major to or adding the Marine and Freshwater Sciences degree plan. This degree plan is one of several tracks for the Biology BS degree, and therefore, it is especially easy to switch into this major if you are already a biology or natural sciences student.

Marine Science Certificate

If you do not have as much room in your degree plan but would still like to take some marine science courses, you should consider adding the Marine Science Certificate to your degree plan. This degree is especially easy to add to your degree plan if you already have general biology and general chemistry courses in your degree plan, as these courses are pre-requisites for many marine science courses. Therefore, this certificate works very well for students who are already a biology or natural sciences student.
